The nerve
By now, I think we all know who The Mama Tao is. She is the crunchiest of all crunchies. Some of the things posted, you have to wonder, "Is this chick for real?". The messed up thing is that this isn't just one blogger. This is an entire group that is promoting very dangerous and just purely stupid advice! I usually just let things/bloggers go and pay them no mind. However, after my last blog, one of Mama Tao's minions decided to attack all of us homebirth loss moms and it's ridiculous. Why can't we speak up??? She encourages people to treat us badly. We are good enough to support until we say that the birth location had anything to do with it!

I had never heard of this woman or blog before. I followed your link. I actually thought that it must be a joke. How could any sane person ever talk that way about someone else? I don't get their thinking. There are incompetent people in every profession.
I think she sounds evil and perhaps it would be best to stay away from her. I could not get off her site fast enough.
I can't believe the "minions" thing--is this an evil cult? She is a hypocrite. She wants all her choices to not be taken from her, but believes her choices are the only correct ones. Who is to say that a mother loves her child any less because she chooses mainstream ideas?
I actually practice a lot of the things that she does, but I would NEVER align myself with someone so narrow-minded!
Once again, I am so sorry about all you have to go through. First your homebirth tragedy and now all the insults.
I don't know the word that is appropriate to use but her blog isn't for real. She (I think) believes the opposite of what she is saying and is trying to outdo the crunchies in terms of crunchness. I know it is hard but if you read some of her other stuff she suggests that instead of holistic medicine eat your babies poo to cure PPD. She is like Dr.Amy on steroids. She is showing the crunchie things in a tongue in cheek manner (I think).
Yes, it is extreme satire.
Satire...thank you Cal!
How very very dare you!
I don't understand why the two communities continuously feel the need to berate and attack each other. Everyone understands how tragic the loss of a baby is, no one is trying to take that away from anyone. Equally, no one is trying to promote any practice that would ever immediately put a baby in harms way. It becomes a bit distracting when either side can't let others have their opinions on how they want to birth and realize there is no right or wrong. There is no statistic that will prove either side victorious. It’s a personal choice. And, calling people stupid and dangerous for a decision they have made that, in reality, poses just the same risks as “the other side,” is sad. No one is more right than the other, period. Death happens, in hospitals, at home, uninformed, informed, with intervention, without intervention. It is really unfortunate that people can't let other people think for themselves, or have their own opinion about things without someone else calling them names. Birth isn't supposed to be vicious and cruel.
I might have picked the wrong post to comment on, mama tao is nuts, but I think you get where I am coming from.
I guess I did not read all of Mama tao's posts. I took a glance at some of the titles and I erronously thought some of her "natural" parenting techniques were like mine. But, I did not delve further to find out that eating baby poo helps PPD. I retract what I said in the above comment!!
It is satire. It is not meant to be taken seriously, any more than the Onion is.
Most certainly satire. It's an extremist portrait of the common extremism that runs in this zeitgeist. And it's important to have that. B/c people should know that this stuff is culturally created and rather ridiculous, if not inhumane in many ways. In what way did the blog encourage people to berate you? I don't check it often, but it's generally meant for laughs...
